Network Security

 Network Security

Computers are great to have, all computers have different types of systems that are used for many different things. For example, computers are used for work, school, and business needs. The only issue with computer systems is that they can catch a virus, or someone might hack you. Or they can steal some important information from you. Computers can be vulnerable to many kinds of threats.

First, the vulnerabilities of a computer system can have some flaws in its software. Which can cause a weakness in your computers or network’s security. Vulnerabilities are also created because the computer or security has improper configurations that need to be configured to be a safe/ protected computer and security, which causes some damage to the computer and the data. If you think that your computer has some vulnerabilities, then you should update your software’s and your software’s security, so it can be up to date with any new patches. You can also install another software program that can help protect your computer from any threats and detect it.

Spyware can be downloaded whenever you are opening websites, email messages, instant messages, and direct file-sharing connections. A user can receive spyware without them knowing, by accepting an end-user license agreement from a software program. Spyware can be hidden and can be invisible. They can be anywhere; they are attached to websites that you open or emails that you are opening. Some way that you can do to prevent that is by using an internet security program to protect you from any spyware. Keep all your software and security patches up to date as well to keep any spyware from reaching you.

Email spam is another one. Email spam is a big one because everyone gets email spam, especially the goofy-looking email ones. Some don’t even make sense when you look at them. By they are dangerous. Spam emails are sent to multiple people sometimes. Spam can cause security concerns because they lead to viruses, worms, spyware, and targeted attacks. Some way to prevent spam is by installing spam filtering/ blocking software. If you get an email it looks like spam, just delete it, do not open it.

Lastly, phishing. Phishing is an “online con game, and phishers are nothing more than tech-savvy con artists and identity thieves” (Monster). They tend to use spam and email messages to get into people’s files. Which leads them to sensitive information, such as bank and credit card information. You can notice it if your computer is running a lot slower than normal. And sometimes the computer is no longer responsive and locks up. The way that you can prevent this is by making sure you are running your virus scans. Check all your disks/memory for any viruses. Make sure that you scan the whole computer for everything and make sure it comes back clean. If it does, then change your passwords and check your accounts and make sure nothing is out of place.

These are all threats that computers have. All computers aren’t saved, you will need to make them safe and protect yourself from anyone trying to hack you or get your information. There are many safety features that you can take to prevent any of this from happening to you. If you buy a new computer, make sure you update your security on it and even buy a virus protective program so no one gets your information. Make sure to stay protected from any hackers.
